Friday and Saturday were consumed with the Beth Moore simulcast at our church. Anyone who's ever had a leadership piece in these event puzzles knows that it is hard to slow down long enough to participate in the event you've worked hard to make perfect for everyone else. Beth's words were so inspired, and no matter whether I wanted to slow down to hear them or not, they were like fiery arrows into my head. Over the next days and weeks, I hope they'll make their way to my heart.
We made a completely spur of the moment trip to Knoxville to purchase the new Snow Leopard for Mac. I don't know what that means or why we'd need to drive over an hour to buy it, but my husband who would tattoo that partially eaten fruit on his forehead if I'd let him, does. Dosen and I took advantage of some sales, and this kid is passionate about clothes. The dressier and trendier the better. How does he know "trends"? I don't know, but he's spot on in his tastes. "Not that one, Mommy. THAT one!" Luke will grow up to be Shane Claiborne-esque in his homemade organic cotton pants, but Dosen will be his dapper sidekick.
On the way home Luke started a discussion on people loving each other. He asked Jake who he loves most in the world, and dad declared me to be the winner. "Not Jesus?" Luke asked. "Well, mom is my favorite person in the world" he offered. "Um, Jesus isn't some puppy dog, dad!" Funny.
Sunday was Luke's first soccer game of the season in a new association, and while he had a slow start to find his groove, the lights came on about half-way in. He rocked it! He had his first ever try at goal keeper, and with at least 5 attempts by his opponents, he shut them down. They never recovered, and Luke went on to score a very pretty goal. Final score - 4-2, us. Goofball me forgot the camera.
We wrapped the day up with a school project for Luke. To be honest, I've been dreading it because the big L and his mama are A LOT alike. We have very specific ways we want things done, and when those ideas do not align... fireworks, and not the pretty kind. I gave myself a long pep talk that this was his project, and I would only offer help if/when he asked. Miraculously, we didn't exchange a single cross word, and here is the terrific final product:
He was asked to capture the unique culture of his family. I think he nailed it.
And of course Dosen did a project, too!
A great weekend indeed.

I love it...especially the puppy dog bit. Ah to be a participant in one of your road trips...hey, there's an idea...we'd need a video crew, but we could have a new hit series...
Thanks for sharing. I love the poster especially. You all did a great job! Thanks for letting me love on your kids!
I'm sorry that Dosen called you Mrs. Soccer Ball today, Mrs. Tara. It truly is a term of affection!

Yeah--didn't believe you. :-) Blogging becomes a necessary function after you've done it awhile....a good way to solidify the events of the day which otherwise would be forgotten so quickly.
Awesome poster! (Nice pic of you and your husband btw.)
Love how little brother had to complete a project like big brother. Too cute. That photo is too precious because the are both proud of their work.
Yup. In fact just the other day I re-read our whole blog from the first post. It really brings back not just memories but raw emotion and feeling as if we were still in the moment back in India. We can't wait to read what you have to write during your trip!
