Spectacular 7

This post is dedicated to Luke Thomas Stum who celebrated his 7th birthday this weekend. It wasn't a big fan fare, but I think it was just what he wanted... and more. But first, here are our 7 favorite things about this very special guy:

1. He loves the Lord and is quick to pray about even the smallest things.
2. Don't bother saying something thought-provoking without a LOT of supporting evidence. There are multiple angles and explanations for every topic. EVERY topic.
3. Since he was about 2, we've teased that his Native American name should be "steel trap." This kid forgets nothing.
4. There's always time to dance and play. Teeth will get brushed eventually but not a moment before he has danced his way to the bathroom and performed 10 poses in the mirror first.
5. Luke is a reader--books, signs, ads, car interior stickers, cereal boxes, tooth paste tubes....
6. He is a terrific big brother. We've asked a lot of him in this department, and he's stepped up to the plate in big, big ways.
7. This kid is a family man. He loves his family and nothing makes him happier than when we are all together.

Dad, mom, and brother delivered a cookie cake to Mrs. Martin's "Lunch Bunch." This was the ONLY way Luke would allow me to bring a treat for his birthday. Lunch Bunch participants have stayed on task during the week, and the reward is lunch in their classroom. It's a big deal!

Mrs. Martin - our 1st grade teacher. To say we love her is an understatement.

Saturday started with L's last bball game. I added this photo only to show how gargantuan my boy is.

The green team awaiting their trophies. Yay for hardware!!

Luke and Brayden clearly impressed by the trophies.

And then there's this... L's new laptop compliments of his Honey and Papa. He's been asking for a laptop for years, I promise. Finally someone heard him and granted his wish. Yes, it will keep mom and dad on our toes, but he deserves something all his own.

I managed to miss taking photos of any of the present opening, lunch with grandparents, the cake, etc... but this kid raked in the dough. His Deeda, Uncle Jason, and Great Aunt Jo heaped on the cash and gift cards.

Happy birthday, babe. We love you so much!

Can I be on Grandma and Grampa's Christmas list? A laptop is such an incredible gift :) Luke seems like such an awesome little guy. . . can't wait to meet him in a few months ;)

Um, could his teacher be any prettier?? I'm guessing she is the focus of many a first grade crush.

With the exception of #4 on this list & the fact that Luke is freakishly large, you have just described our Owen. Maybe their twins separated at birth in some crazy time/space warp scenario. No wait, there were triplets but Luke at the third child in the womb--hence the freakish stature...
