One of the reasons our process is taking what feels like FOREVER is our own fault. We didn't fully dive in until late March 2009. This adoption was a huge decision for us... as if not all adoptions would be. The thought of fundraising was exhausting (we're almost done, btw!). Our little family unit of 4 is operating flawlessly. Our house is small. Our vehicle is inconvenient even with a 3rd row. Yeah, I could list a good dozen more stupid reasons we tried on for size, but none fit. Vee, however, fit.
Lots of people assume we've met him since we have many pictures and talk about him as if he's just at an extended stay at the dentist. We've never met him. He is a special needs child with what will likely be a long road of catch up developmentally. He's lived in an institutional setting his entire life. Yep, this thing could get messy in a hurry, but we've signed on for whatever may come. I like to spend most days living in the fairy tale of miraculous adjustment and bonding, but even when I allow myself to tip toe around in worst case scenarios, I'm not swayed. He's my boy.
So, I suppose this is an anniversary of sorts. I'll confess that I thought we'd have him home by now. I fear he's thinking his nannies were playing a mean joke on him when they shared our photos, but we are asking God to fill his little heart with hope that we are coming soon.
Thanks for indulging me. It makes it better somehow to retell our journey to V thus far. And on a lighter note, enjoy a few photos of our family Valentine's Day gift to one another--Simply Love t's...

Read this post while eating Indian food...ironic, I think not. So proud of you guys and I can't believe it was almost a year ago when I almost got to see him...oh so dang close!! Love the pics of the 3 goofy guys...that is them...that is a normal face for them, am I right??! Love you guys! Happy anniversary - hope you travel soon.
You guys are so awesome. Not a coincidence that I am wearing your t-shirt as I read this. Praying for God's timing in all of this!
PS
Your boys would love our church... that's all everyone wears every week ;)... and we meet in a movie theater.
Oh Merica... I love you guys so much... it just makes me a wreck ...the waiting... I cry for you guys and for all the families of these little ones I try to love each day ...I know His timing is perfect, but in my flesh I have so much trouble waiting. You all remain in my prayers...
I remember exactly the decision making prayers this time last year---It's been a long year for all of our chosen children! Sweet Vee is on the way in His perfect time--- I so don't always like to hear that :( but it is so true! :) -- can't wait to see you guys! love you!!
I can totally relate to the agony involved in making the initial decision to take in a Lovey with so many unknowns. I believe the emotions involved in waiting while thinking and planning is probably even worse. Just think, in a year you will be updating us on all the progress V has made since his arrival in your home. You are awesome!
