Wowza, life since Friday has been crizazy--and that's crazier than plain crazy if you're wondering.
Please be certain that we remain over the top about our little man coming home soon, and the news of guardianship approval is so huge. On June 2nd (2 sleeps) it will be official in writing. Unbelievable! The childrens home will apply for his passport once they receive the written approval from the judge, and then... we make travel plans. YES!!
However, mixed with the great news about Vee, I'm a little sidetracked by my mom. Only two hours after I called to share the guardianship news with she and my dad, my mom suffered a significant heart attack. This lady takes her grandchildren seriously!! Actually, she felt totally fine, but after doing some work outside, she experienced all the tell-tale heart attack symptoms. My dad reacted quickly, the paramedics responded quickly, and a doctor operated quickly.
It is really hard to reconcile when something like this happens to your parent, especially my mom who is healthy and vibrant, but the doctor expects a full recovery. Praise the Lord for that. I did get to spend a few minutes each day since Saturday with her, and she looks remarkably well. Once her blood pressure stays up consistently, she'll be moved from the cardiac care unit to a regular room. We are hopeful that will be within the next day or so.
I have very well-behaved boys, and they are especially clutch when they need to be. I guess they can sense when mama has the reserve energy or attention to let them push the limits. Jake hesitantly left at 3 am on Saturday morning to lead a group of 23 to Ethiopia (12 sleeps), and although this current roller coaster is a challenge without him, I'm so happy he went. He's traveling with one of our favorite people in all the world, Caleb David. Caleb has many amazing contacts in Addis Ababa, and he's actually leading the daily activities. I know God has huge plans for Jake, Caleb, and each team member.
Thanks for all the well-wishes and prayers for my mom, Jake, and Vee. I have so much to be thankful and excited about, but all at one time has been unexpected. I suppose this way I can't obsess about any of it, right?!

Oh, sweetie, we are praying. Hugs to you and to your precious mom.
So much love,
Gillian
I am so sorry to hear about your mom. Praise God that your dad reacted quickly. My step-dad has had three heart attacks now and it is hard when our parents are sick. Praying for a quick and complete recovery for your mom.
Oh, no! I can't imagine seeing a parent go through those circumstances. It doesn't seem like our parents will ever be "old." Praying for great peace, speedy recovery, and great grace for you all.
I may just stalk your blog until I hear word that Ashraya received the passport!
