You and I go to work or sell products or clip coupons to make our family budgets work, and these women are no different. You and I have play dates at the park or each other's homes, and these women are no different. You and I share our thoughts, prayers, hopes, and trials, and ... you get it... they are no different. There at least one HUGE difference, though. If it were not for this time to fellowship, pray, and make beautiful jewelry together, these women would LITERALLY be digging through the trash to find anything of worth to sell with the hope of feeding their families. The heart of mothers all over the world is the same. We love our families, and we will do anything it takes to make their lives even the tiniest bit brighter.
In one of Gwen's photos, a child sitting on her mom's lap while she works is wearing a bracelet. I can't tell if it's one of the beaded kind the ladies handcraft to sell, but I can imagine it is. Maybe mama tried out a new pattern or maybe this little one just wanted in on the action. I love it. It breaks my heart to think of life being so hard for these women, but more so it makes me proud to be a part of a worldwide unstoppable sisterhood.
Take just a few minutes to read it in Gwen's words: http://oatsvallteam.blogspot.com/2010/04/lesson-1-from-uganda-meet-my-sisters.html. Oh, and you can most certainly buy a bracelet or two, or fifty.
