All the Single Moms

Here's an update from Jake himself:

I am currently writing to you from an internet cafe in the valley of Sangla, India (30 km from Tibet). We finally reached our destination yesterday and began missions efforts last night. We arrived in Delhi and traveled about 18 hours up into the Himalayan mountains. I am going to try to send a longer update later, but wanted to at least touch base with everyone.

Our trip was rigorous but great. Everyone is doing well. We have one team trekking through the mountains to villages that have never heard the gospel. They are doing well.

We have another team that is teaching English in the afternoons. We are the first white Americans this group has ever spoken too. Needless to say they found me very interesting. (I'm sure they did, babe!)

We have another team that is discipling new believers at night. The population here is 60 percent Buddhist and 35 percent Hindu. This leaves 5 percent that is Christian or other. Getting to spend time with this small group of believers is vital for the advancement of the gospel.

I will expound upon each of those teams as soon as I get a chance.

We are in uncharted territory for the IMB so everything is new. We are exploring the culture and are going to give recommendations on the best way to minister to this people group. We have learned so much that will greatly help future teams.

The scenery is breathtaking but the people are heart breaking. The hopelessness is almost tangible.

I will try to update again in a couple of days.

Keep us in your prayers.

Thank you all for checking in on us and inviting us to your houses. We're doing great, and we're thrilled for Jake to be a part of such an amazing trip.
